Are you uncomfortable having tough conversations?
Talkling about mental health with someone? We so often label these conversations as 'hard', 'uncomfortable', 'awkward', BUT I think what we are doing is just labelling our own feelings about the conversation, not the other persons. What could their feelings be about it? Yes, 'embarrassed', 'ashamed', and possibly 'angry' - but if you hold a safe space for someone, let them process these initial emotions, they may then get to feel relief. To be seen, to be heard, is to feel human. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training gives you the tools and framework to be able to have conversations with someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or may be in crisis.
